BOARD OFFICERS AND OFFICIALS

The Navarro College Board of Trustees is composed of the offices of Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Secretary/Treasurer, and four Trustees.

The election of the Navarro College Board of Trustees Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Secretary/Treasurer shall take place at the first regular or special meeting of the board in May of odd numbered years or at the next meeting after a vacancy occurs in any of the positions.

 

POWERS AND DUTIES OF BOARD CHAIRMAN

The Chairman of the Board shall preside at meetings of the Board, enforce policies, sign documents duly authorized by the Board, appoint all committees not otherwise provided for, of which he and the District President shall be ex-officio members, and perform such other duties as may be required by law or imposed by the Board. The Chairman of the Board shall be entitled to vote on all matters coming before the Board.

 

DUTIES OF VICE CHAIRMAN

In the absence of the Chairman, the Vice Chairman shall act in his place.

 

POWERS AND DUTIES OF THE SECRETARY / TREASURER

The Secretary/Treasurer shall keep a record of the actions of the Board at its meetings in a minute book provided for that purpose. The books, papers, and records of the Secretary/Treasurer shall be the property of the Board, under the custody of the District President, and shall be open to inspection upon request in accordance with laws of the State and policies of the Board. The Secretary/Treasurer, as the official accountant and designated fiscal officer of the Governing Board, will also execute all documents adopted by the Board requiring his signature and perform such other functions as required by law.

It shall be the duty of the Secretary/Treasurer to record the vote on any action taken by the Board and attest to documents executed by the Chairman of the Board.

In the absence of the Chairman and Vice Chairman, the Secretary/Treasurer will act as Chairman pro-tempore.
